Lavern Anhalt - Class Of 1955

LaVerne H. Anhalt, 80, of Frederika, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Unity Point Health - Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

LaVerne Harold Anhalt was born on September 13, 1937, the son of August and Garnet (Kittle) Anhalt in Bremer County, Iowa. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1955. On May 13, 1961, he was united in marriage to Karen Cagley at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, Iowa. Verne worked for Kirkies Implement and was Service Manager for Kreiner Bros Implement, both in Waverly. In the 1960's and into the 70's he was a part time farmer in the area. In 1970, he began a partnership known as Feuchtwanger & Anhalt Enterprises in a grain dryer business in Frederika. And in 1980, he became manager of the Massey-Ferguson store in Rose Creek, Minnesota. After it closed, he became Regional Sales Manager for OXBO International until his retirement. Following his retirement, he held various jobs and most recently at Leisure Time Golf in New Hampton, Iowa.

He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering in his shop, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.

Survivors are his wife, Karen Anhalt of Frederika, Iowa; daughter, Leah Hamm of Elma, Iowa; two sons, Eric Anhalt of Frederika, Iowa and Aaron (Lynn) Anhalt of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren, Dalton and Cally Hamm, and Kylee and Megan Anhalt; sister, Irene Spinelli of Cedar Falls, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merlyn Anhalt and sister, Rita Haddad.
