Edward F. Chezik, 79, of Waverly, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Clarksville.
Edward Frederick Chezik was born on Dec. 9, 1932, the son of John and Delma Ellen (Martin) Chezik in Waterloo. As a teenager, he received Jesus Christ as his personal savior and received believer's baptism at First Baptist Church in Waverly. Ed graduated from Waverly High school in 1950 and briefly attended Wartburg College. 
On Sept. 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Dally at the Burton Avenue Baptist Church in Waterloo. Ed farmed in partnership with his father and was later a coin broker until illness forced him to retire.
He served in several positions at Burton Avenue Baptist Church and at First Baptist in Waverly. Ed's greatest interest was working with the young people.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn, of Waverly; two daughters, Lynette (Kevin) Winstead, of Elk Run Heights, and Janet (Brian) Megilligan, of Raleigh, N.C.; son, Kenneth Chezik, of Seymour, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Austin, Lindsey and Reece; brother, Donald (Elaine) Chezik of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Chezik; and by a daughter-in-law, Ellen.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly with the Rev. Brian Wilkins of First Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.
