LESLIE JOAN YOUNG, (Joanie), (61), l949 – 2010. Died, Dec. 6, 2010 in Brooklyn Center, New Hope, Minnesota after many years of chronic illness. She graduated from WSR in l967. She went to college in Chicago at Wheaton College. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work at Bethel College. She worked on staff for the Youth Investment Foundation as a missionary, responsible for the development and maintenance of the girl’s ministry, as coordinator and was also on staff at St. Louis Park Medical Center as a Health Testing Center Technician. She was Supervisor in Administrative Management with Iowa National Insurance and was intern with Youth Investment Foundation, a non-profit organization on ministering the needs of Jr. and Sr. High Youth in conflict. She worked as a Social Worker for many years in Minnesota. Because of health problems she was forced to retire. Her service dog, Joy, was a special friend and companion. Carol Hansen was her faithful friend and helper for Joanie for 50 years. Joanie is remembered for her strong faith in Jesus, her personal Lord and Savior. She shared her life story and what Jesus has done for her with everyone. She had many friends that will miss her and her service dog, Joy.
