James "Jim" Hinders - Class Of 1965

James A. Hinders Sr., 70, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Unity Point Health - Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

James Arthur Hinders Sr. was born on July 24, 1947, the son of Claus and Marcelite Ann (Zweibohmer) Hinders in Waverly, Iowa. He graduated from Waverly Shell Rock High School in 1965. On February 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Kay Hicks at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. Jim worked at John Deere Tractor Works until retiring on February 28, 1997. He then worked part time at the Plainfield COOP, as a farm hand for Brian Cole and later at Zip’s Truck Equipment in New Hampton.

Jim was a member of the Plainfield Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, golfing and camping, however, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife, Kathy Hinders of Waverly, Iowa; daughter, Melissa Davis of Waverly, Iowa; son, James (Jana) Hinders of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren, Taylor (Sam) Davis, Nolan Hinders, Elizabeth Hinders and Brennen Davis; one great granddaughter, Lily Davis; two sisters, Jane (Max) VanRaden of Plainfield, Iowa and Barb (David) Parker of Newell, Iowa; and brother, Tom (Mary Ann) Hinders of Waverly, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn Hinders and brother, Steven Hinders.
