KATE (WITT) THORPE (46), 1949 - 1995. Died, April 13, 1995 in her home in Miami, Florida following a long battle of cancer. She graduated from WSR in l967. She then attended the U. of I. in Iowa City for two years and then moved to Miami where she completed her degree in special ed. At the Florida International Univ. She married Brian Thorpe on Feb. 15, l975 in Shell Rock. They met while she was working in Florida. She worked as a teacher with mentally handicapped and disabled children. She helped with support groups and counseling following her diagnosis of breast cancer in l991. They had three children, Blaize, Kate, and Patrick.
